environment, photography and the cinematic imaginary in movies
And of course the movie club. I am gladly surprised that more and more artistic movies in the recent past touched more or less on the subject of natural environment. Some of these perspectives are anthropocentric while other offer a unique insight into deep-ecology. However, there are many that are so profound that they are yet to be discovered. Within this club we will not limit ourselves to movies that explicitly discuss the environment. I think that the vast majority of the movies do this in one way or another. Environment is everywhere, it just needs to be discovered. Movies are a unique place for this. They offer a rich visual imaginarium beyond any of the current artistic creation. Movies are a representative reflection of our current cultural world, and the perfect lens to look through for how the majority of us perceive the environment.
